β οΈ A note, a warning, and some advice.
This is very much a work in progress.
We have had to create is online training program quickly as a response to a sudden shift of working remotely that unfortunately nobody could have anticipated. What you will be working through here is the best we could do in the most reasonable amount of time.
Over time, This content will get better. In order to do this, we will need your help. Please continue to email your feedback, constructive criticism, and even outright complaints to [email protected].
Many of the videos included in this online training are screencasts of previously held staff trainings, for one off, one take screencasts that we have made in order to address a training need in the moment. They are not polished. They were not created professionally. Some contain long.............uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.................pauses, and I sometimes speak slowly to the point where even I am annoyed. I do not want to you to skip over anything, but I would advise you to take a second to learn how to change the speed on some of these videos so that trainings arenβt so slow that you get frustrated but not so fast that you donβt learn anything.
Personally, when deciding on a speed, I have found that watching training videos such as these is effective somewhere in the 150% range.
Right now, you're on the honor system.
We don't put together things like this for our health or because we just need something for you to do. The content created for these courses is here because some aspect of your job requires performing these skills.
However, as with all things nonprofit we are short on time and staffing hours and budget, and things like this have to be done as cheaply as possible. So we canβt afford features to force responses to quizzes. We canβt afford sophisticated programs to know if you have watched a video or not.
What we can do is ask you to do your best and to be thorough because itβs important.
If there is a video, watch it.
If there is a quiz, take it.
If there is some text, read it.
If you have a question, ask it.
Good luck.
Please let us know if you have any questions or need any additional information or support in order to complete these trainings.
